Paul Newman died of cancer

Paul Newman ended his long battle with lung cancer, he died Friday peacefully in his home surrounded by his wife and daughters. He was 83.

Robert Forrester, Vice-Chairman of Newman's Own Foundation, said in a statement Saturday: "Paul Newman's craft was acting. His passion was racing. His love was his family and friends. And his heart and soul were dedicated to helping make the world a better place for all.

No other details were available but the actor had earlier spoken of his wish to die at home surrounded by his family.

Paul was a very generous man and after creating his brand of Newman's Own product which exploded into a multi-million dollar organic food company he started as a joke in his basement, donated a lump some of profit to charities. About a $250 million lump.
